Knowles-Taylor
Cotton Company, Inc. was started in 1997 by Richard A. Knowles and
has grown considerably over the last five years. The company operates
on a relatively small scale, but on a diversified, international
basis. Our annual turnover is now in excess of 100,000 bales or
about US$20,000,000.

The
international cotton trade has changed dramatically in the past few
years, as the dominance of the large U.S. shippers has grown, at the
expense of many medium-sized companies. Knowles-Taylor has countered
this consolidation by operating on a low-cost, dynamic basis. With
low overhead and a global reach, we can compete with larger firms
by entering into long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with
other companies, both here in the U.S.A. and overseas.
The best way for us to compete is for us to build long-term relationships
based on trust and reliability. We pride ourselves on being a quality
supplier of cotton, and try to be very flexible to our customers'
needs. |

Approximately
eighty percent of our trading volume is comprised of Texas cotton,
but we also trade California Acala, Upland, and Pima cottons. All
of our business is into the export market and we have shipped cotton
to the following countries in the past four seasons:
ASIA: China,
Japan, Indonesia, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Hong Kong, Bangladesh,
and India
CENTRAL &
SOUTH AMERICA: Guatemala, Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil
EUROPE: U.K.,
Turkey, and Germany

In the last
four years, we have entered into relationships with international
trading companies based outside the U.S. These have served three
different purposes; one, we can supply U.S. cotton on a "grass-roots"
basis to international traders; two, we have access to more markets
through the marketing infrastructure of these companies; and three,
we can also offer non-U.S. cottons to our customers. These are long-term
relationships, which fit very well with our diverse business plan
and enable us to compete in a shrinking cotton market.
